Bio
When he was a child, Simon enjoyed finding out how things worked, especially cars. Mechanical engineering meant he could get to design and build cars, but Simon wanted to get involved with bigger machines. Work placement at a local power station convinced him he wanted to be part of the power industry.
Mechanical engineering opened up lots of opportunities for Simon and he now works for Santos, designing and building pipelines.

- Being able to work both in the office and outdoors in outback Australia.
- What is the most challenging aspect about your work?
- Fixing problems that are 3000 metres under ground at the bottom of a gas well.

- What is the best career advice you can give to someone is interested in going down a similar path?
- Even if it maths & science are hard work at school & uni stick at it because once you are qualified there are so many different career opportunities, and you are bound to find something you enjoy.
