Sensible reasoning

Posted by aerionstarfire

OK I have history within the mechanical trades fields ranging from Toolmaking to Fitting and Welding. During one of my last jobs I had the joy of working with an ex Australian navy tech. I found long midnight shifts working with a Defence Force trained electrician to be enlightening. I learnt a great deal on association of Australian and American Navies even down to the level of understanding on-board ship electrical design and electrical generation.

Seeing a competent defence force tradesmen at work is exhilarating. The understanding for the systems they work on is unparalleled in the trade industry.

Though Im broadening my horizons again by studying Spatial Information Systems I still have an interest in the design and construction of military equipment whether bushman's, submarines or even basic equipment.

I would have to agree with your comment, but there is also more to it than that. I’ve worked at both ends of the spectrum – as a tradesman in automotive and as a lead designer in defence. I find there is nothing more satisfying than designing defence equipment, being involved during the manufacturing process, being out in the field and testing and finally signing off and having people either in Australia or around world using something that you have designed.
